Everything old is new
The streets are broken and uneven
You can tell that the city is old enough just by looking at the streets.
Just like an old person
it has wrinkles
there are cracks on the surfaces of the road
proof of what it had been through throughout its lifetime
like the cracks on the street at the corner of West Side and Boyd Avenue
I don’t know the story behind that but it might have been from a car crash that happened 2 or 3 years ago
or something heavy, like a piano or vault, fell from one of the rooms in the building.I don’t know and I don’t even want to know
It will be one of the mysteries in my life I will try not to solve. Some of the cracks on the streets are paved with new concrete
trying to cover its blemishes
but it just gives more attention to it.
the new concrete doesn’t really go with the old look of the city.
It’s like a patch of silk in a fabric of cotton
out of place.
the antiquity of this place is something new to me
a new place to discover weird, ugly and beautiful things
a new place to get lost into
a new place to know
and soon enough
a new place to, again, leave behind.
