the things I hear at night
The faint car siren from the other street is like the lullaby of my heart. Distant, yet alarming every nerve of my body. A constant rhythm of a reminder that I’m trying not to dwell upon to. I guess someone tried to steal the steering wheel or the stereo of the car. But before they could get too close, the sound of the alarm drove the carjacker away into the darkness. Running around in different directions, maybe that’s why he’s trying to steal the steering wheel, to get a hold on his direction in life. Or maybe he just wants a new stereo.
The sound of the train passing by the city is the same as the sound of my perplexed heart. Speeding through empty shipyards and crossing every bridge, old and new. The railroad tracks tremble as the weight of the train burden itself on the tracks. Metal to metal, something beautiful and fatal sparks out at the ends. Chasing sunsets and catching the night. Wishing for heavy clarity to devour me.
